A man who was in custody for snatching goats and rabbits from a woman’s home has been freed after the lady’s family opted for an out of court settlement. The man was set to be arraigned in court but the woman’s family withdrew the case.
Daniel Kemboi, 27, stormed the 24-year-old’s Kipchere home and took away the animals as compensation for 50000/= which he claimed he had sent to Vivian Jebet several times as transport to his place.
According to a report by K24, the man who lives in Koroto in Baringo North said Jebet “ate” the fare several times and never showed up in his house as agreed.
Kemboi got into trouble after confiscating Jebet’s father livestock who reported him to the police leading to his arrest. The suspect was set to be arraigned at the Kabarnet Law Courts on Monday, November 2, but the lady’s family agreed to solve the matter out of court.
The unnamed woman who is blogger Edgar Obare’s fan told the tea master she had asked for 100000/= fare to go visit her man. Instead of showing up as planned, the lady “ate the fare” and kept quiet.
This aggravated the woman’s partner and the jilted man allegedly reported her to the nearest police station.

The culture of eating fare has become very common among the ladies and has left many men with an egg on their faces.
Men send money for a purpose and women should fulfil that purpose by showing up at the man’s place after receiving the money. “The money was sent for a purpose and if you do not show up, you are a downright thief. If you do can not show up, give a logic excuse,” she said in September 2020.
