Widow boiled stones for her children due to lack of Food.
A widow from Mishomoroni village in Mlango Saba, Mombasa county, who had resorted to boiling stones for her children due to lack of food has a reason to smile after receiving overwhelming support from Kenyans
– Penina Bahati resorted to boiling stones so that her children would catch sleep with the assurance that when they wake up they would find food
– However, her trick did not last long before one of her sons realised she was lying to them after he woke up at night and found him boiling stones -After Journalists highlighted her story, Kenyans came out with donations and now the family can afford a meal – When Reporters visited her home, Penina expressed gratitude to Kenyans who supported her.
With a bright face, the 45-year-old mother said her children can now afford a meal three times a day, something that has been a dream since the death of her husband in June 2019. “I am excited beyond imagination. I didn’t believe that Kenyans can be so loving after I received phone calls from all over the country, asking how they may be of help,” she said. Through a good samaritan and neighbour, Prisca Momanyi, Penina now has her first handset and a bank account which most people have been requesting to make their contributions.
Penina has eight children, her first born is 28 years old and the last born is 5 months old.
