Vipers Sc Targets A first Leg Victory Against Al-Hilal In The CAF Champions League Qualifiers.

Vipers SC host the Sudanese giants (Al-Hilal )in the first leg for the preliminary round this Saturday on November 28 at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

Kajoba wants to take a bankable lead to Khartoum for a return leg scheduled due December 6.

“Everyone is aware that we have to win the Saturday game so that we leave for Khartoum with an advantage and enough goals to qualify,” Kajoba told the club media.

“We have had enough training and enough duration to prepare.”

Kajoba’s work is cutout against a side that has played the CAF Champions League final twice – 1987 and 1992.

Last season, Al Hilal made it to the group stages, finishing third behind Etoile Du Sahel and Al Ahly but above FC Platinum in Group B.

“We know that they are an experienced side, they have good players including Salim Jamal who is my goalkeeper on the National team (Uganda Cranes),” Kajoba stated.

“But we as a club have our targets – that is reaching the group stages of the CAF Champions League

“And I hope that we will fulfil that target, we as coaches, players and adminstration are aware that this is the right time for us to make a good run in this competition.”

If Vipers negotiate past Al Hilal, they will face winner between Mauritania’s Nouadhibour or Ghana’s giants Asante Kotoko in the first round of the qualifiers for a slot in the lucrative group stages.

Kajoba has confirmed that all players are available for selection beside Umar Kyebatala.

Caf Champions League Preliminary Round

Vipers SC v Al Hilal Omdurman

Confederation of African Football (Caf)  confirmed the match officials that will handle Vipers SC encounter against Al Hilal Omdurman  this Saturday.

Vipers SC will face Sudan’s Al Hilal in the preliminary round of the Caf Champions League with the first leg slated for November 28, at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.

The Caf referees’ appointments committee selected a quartet of Somalis match officials.

These include Hassan Mohamed Hagi who has been appointed as the centre referee.

Hagi is not new in Uganda having officiated a game between KCCA FC and Rivers United FC of Nigeria.

He will be assisted by fellow countrymen in Hamza Hagi Abdi and Suleiman Bashir Sh. Abdi as the first and second assistant referees respectively.

Omar Abdukadir Artan also from Somalia will be the fourth official while David Gikonyo Mwangi is the Match Commissioner.

The second leg in Sudan’s capital Omdurman is slated for December 6 (on a Sunday).

The winner on aggregate will then face either Nouadhibou of Mauritania or Ghana’s Asante Kotoko.

This is the second time that the Venoms will be facing a Sudanese club.

Vipers  previous continental expedition,  played against Al Merriekh, knocking them out at the preliminary round on a 2-2 aggregate.
