Police chiefs under investigation over MP torture

Following an order from the Inspector General of police Martins Okoth Ochola into the misconduct of the officers behavior after watching the viral video in which the officers were seen using excessive force while beating and manhandling Buvuma woman legislator Suzan Nakaziba along side her supporters to break up the illegal assembly.

…”Some officers were captured on video aggressively manhandling the protesters which we strongly condemn. As a result the territorial commanders at Ssezibwa region and Buvuma district were summoned by the professional Standards Unit on the express instructions of the IGP,”he added.

While addressing journalists at the weekly joint press briefing at the headquarters in Naguru police spokesperson Fred Enanga said 11 policemen have so far been removed from duty and instructed to visit the PSU headquarters for additional information.

Among the summoned officers is acting region police commander Jamal Kanyesigye , DPC commander Buvuma Michael Bagoole and assistant inspector of police Francis Odeke among other summoned personnel.
