Pardon Minister Goretti Kitutu – Bishop Nandaah requests Museveni

Bishop Nandaah requests Museveni to pardon Minister Kitutu

While presiding over Easter sermons at St Andrew’s church in Mbale , Bishop Nandaah raised concern over the selective indictment of Karamoja Affairs Minister Mary Goretti Kitutu saying it was irrational to sacrifice Dr Kitutu and leave others at large for allegedly mismanagement of relief items that had been meant for Karamoja sub region.

“ We need to talk to the president over this matter and ask him to punish with mercy. He should forgive and pardon Minister Kitutu…,”Bishop Nandaah said.

Dr Kitutu who is also Manafwa District woman MP was remanded to Luzira prison last Thursday together with her brother Mr Michael Naboya Kitutu on charges of diverting iron sheets meant for Karamoja community.

The Inspector General of Government last month released a list of leaders who were being investigated for misusing the iron sheets and among were the the speaker of Parliament Anita Among , Vice President Jessica Alupo, the prime minister Robinah Nabbanja, 22 ministers, 31 members of Parliament and 13 Chief administrators Officials.

Ms Kitutu was charged on two counts of public property and one count of conspiracy to defraud.

Bishop Nandaah wondered why other leaders who are allegedly misused billions of money were still freely yet there are other implicated leaders being pinned.

Rev Nandaah suggested that the implicated leaders be ordered to return the iron sheets so that they are redistributed to the intended beneficiaries in Karamoja.

Police is still carrying out investigations into the matter as several statements from other ministers involved in the scandal.
