Senior six candidate commits suicide over boyfriend

Sumayiyah Nabukenya aged 18, a student at Light College School, Mpigi, committed suicide by hanging on a tree.
Nabukenya used a piece of cloth, which she tied on one of a tree branch and ended her life on Friday.
Sumayiyah had informed her friend the previous day that her parents had learnt about her relationship with the boyfriend and that they had threatened to beat her if she didn’t end the relationship.
“I last saw her on Wednesday in the evening when she was going to fetch water, we talked and she told me that her parents had disapproved of her relationship with a boyfriend,” he said.
