Uganda Premier League champions SC Vipers have been drawn with Jamal Salim’s Al Hilal Omdurman in the CAF Champions League premiliary round.Jamal Salim Magoola is a Ugandan goalkeeper who plays for Al Hilal Omdurman in Sudan
SC Vipers will be welcomed back in the continental competition by Sudan’s El Hilal and the winner between them will face either Nouadhibou of Mauritania or Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in the next round. The Venoms will welcome the Sudanese side at St Mary’s Stadium before the return leg away.
For Uganda, there will be a different Champions League representative after Vipers were declared winners of the cancelled 2019/20 competition. The Venoms were leading with four more points than KCCA FC – the last editions country’s representatives – and thus the duty of flying Uganda’s flag lies squarely on their shoulders.
Vipers SC have not been in action since the league was suspended in March due to the emergence of the coronavirus.Head coach Fred Kajoba has already made signings – predominantly from local clubs – who he hopes will help the club as they return to the continental football.
Vipers SC are 4 time Champions of the Ugandan Premier league(2010, 2015, 2018 & 2020), Uganda Cup (2016), Fufa Super Cup (2015) & Super 8 Cup (2019).
The sides will face off in the first leg on November 27-29 before a return leg in December 4-6, 2020.
Vipers SC will host their opponent Al Hilal Omdurman first at St Mary’s stadium on the weekend of November 27 – 29,before the return leg in Sundan between December 4-6,2020
The development was confirmed on Monday afternoon during the draws of the premiliary round for both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup where they fell to CS Constantine of Algeria 3–0 on aggregate, one round shy of the group stage.
