NUP dismisses Museveni's election rigging accusations as laughable

The National Unity Platform ( NUP ) refutes accusations of election rigging by President Museveni, denouncing the claims as baseless and absurd during a Thanksgiving service for General Aronda Nyakairima.

President Museveni alleges that NUP inflated their vote count by one million in the 2021 elections, citing evidence of electoral malpractice and challenging NUP to refute the claims.

In response to allegations of vote rigging, President Museveni proposes the implementation of electronic voting systems to ensure transparency and fairness in future elections.

NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya rebuts Museveni’s claims, highlighting the irony of the accusations given the reported election irregularities and suppression of opposition activities during the 2021 elections.

Demands for transparency and international oversight

Rubongoya challenges Museveni to present evidence of election fraud and calls for an independent audit of the 2021 elections by credible international bodies like the United Nations to ensure transparency and accountability

As preparations for the 2026 general elections commence, NUP expresses apprehension over potential undemocratic practices and questions Museveni’s commitment to upholding democratic values and principles in the electoral process.
