Sembabule District, Mawogola North Constituency, Uganda — Saturday, 26th September 2026 — Area Member of Parliament Sodo Aine Godfrey Kaguta joined residents and other community leaders in participating in the National Cleaning Day exercise, as communities across the country came together to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Kaguta took part in the cleaning activities alongside residents, demonstrating the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining clean and healthy communities.
The exercise involved activities aimed at clearing litter, cleaning public spaces and encouraging residents to take greater responsibility for the environment around them.
Speaking during the activity, Kaguta emphasized the need for communities to make cleanliness a continuous practice rather than something observed only during organized cleaning exercises.
He encouraged residents to properly dispose of waste and work together to keep roads, trading centres and other public spaces clean.
The legislator’s participation also highlighted the role of leaders in mobilizing communities and leading by example in matters affecting public health and the environment.
National Cleaning Day brings together citizens, leaders, institutions and other stakeholders to participate in activities aimed at improving sanitation and environmental cleanliness across Uganda.
Residents who participated in the exercise welcomed the initiative, saying that regular community involvement is important in creating cleaner and healthier surroundings.
The activity concluded with a call for residents to maintain the momentum by making responsible waste disposal and regular cleaning part of their daily routines.
