68-year-old first-time mother gives birth to twins

Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) broke the good news on Sunday, April 19, 2020, via its official page on Twitter. It also gave details about the new parents and the birth of the twins.
The hospital explained the mother of twins was a 68-year-old woman. According to the health facility, it was the woman’s first time to carry a pregnancy and she successfully delivered her twins. The hospital noted the new mother got pregnant through In Vitro Fertilisation popularly called IVF.
LUTH stated she delivered through an elective cesarean section at 37 weeks on Tuesday, April 14, 2020. “The IVF and embryo transfer were done at an outside facility. She was thereafter referred to LUTH at early gestation and subsequently managed till term. This is the first in LUTH, Nigeria, and Africa! Mother and babies are doing well,” the hospital said.
