Dr. Abdu Anas Kaliisa is dead. Kaliisa a renowned Islamic Scholar and Lecturer and political commentator passed on today Wednesday evening around 6:15pm at his home at Mbogo village, Kawempe.
According to family members, Dr. Abdu Anas Kaliisa left office at Naguru today and returned home to have a rest as was his routine but he collapsed dead at home.
Family members say the cause of death is not known since he never complained of any illness.
The deceased’s body has now been taken to Kibuli Hospital to carry out a postmortem that will tell the exact cause of death.
“From morning, his health was fine. At around 1:00pm, he came back home from officea around 5pm he started saying he is feeling stomacheche. He insisted and went for is daily exercise. He letter went to his bedroom around 6pm to have a rest however, in few minutes we found him dead” – Family members revealed to FremerMedia
Kaliisa is the elder brother of Next Media Chief Executive Officer, Kin Kariisa.

He has also been a panelist on NBS Television’s Ensi n’ebyayo program where he used to dissect key issues around the world and used to run every Sunday evening. His knowledge of events made him a darling of many who watched his show.
Dr. Kaliisa, the former Director of the Institute of Research and Training was a political analyst on Middle East affairs, and one of the 21 founders and the Managing Director House of Zakat and also one of the leaders of Salaam Charity Foundation.
He was also the Secretary of the Eminent Council of Sheikhs of Uganda and Chairman Muslim Jurists Uganda.
Dr. Abdu Anas Kaliisa was also an expert in Islamic law, history and customs and sits on the apex body of world Muslim scholars.
Dr. Kaliisa’s body will be put to his permanent resting home in Ruhama Ntungamo District.
