Ssebwalunyo wins first Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly award
NEC FC custodian Hannington Ssebwalunyo continues rising among the best Goalkeepers in Uganda as he bags the first Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly award.
To join the winners of the awards, which are continuing to grow bigger since their inception in 2018, Ssebwalunyo kept 5 clean sheets in April and added two goals as a goalkeeper.
Speaking at the awarding ceremony held on May 5 at Nanjing Restaurant, Ssebwalunyo humbly started, “I am grateful to God for enabling me to win this. This award is a result of unity in my team plus the push from fellow players mostly the goalkeepers at the club They always give me competition. I am grateful for the organizers and the sponsors.”
With the accolade presented by Jude Colour Solutions representative Eron Nandawula, Ssebwalunyo received it after beating Maroons FC’s Attacking Midfielder Ivan Mayanja and SC Villa forward Frank Ssebuufu.
The event further had two more winners with Edrine Ekau winning the Basketball accolade after averaging 20 points per game and Alex Aturinda won in Rugby.
To win the Basketball accolade, Rizelife’s Ekau beat the competition from City Oilers’ Faheed Baale and the only woman in the race Tracy Namugose of KCCA Leopards. In Rugby, Aturinda of Pirates topped Proscivia Mukyala of Thunderbirds and Daniels Otim of Buffaloes.
