President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hits back on Bobi Wine Criticism
The ruling NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has said that politicians playing politics of age instead of ideas are misleading Ugandans.
Museveni says NRM has been winning elections because they prioritize people’s needs and not identity. He explains that the moment you take identity as main point, you can’t get enough support to win the national elections.
“When you begin to see people emphasizing young and old, you just know that they are confusing. We are not studying Biology. We are in a competition of ideas. Ideas are never old or young,” says Museveni.
He adds, “Wisdom is better than strength. Apart from the idea of emphasizing people’s needs, we had to emphasize Wisdom is better than strength. We did that by respecting private property and liberalization.”
He insists that campaigns are about the message and not about gatherings.
This is the second day Museveni is campaigning in the West Nile sub region and today he’s in Nebbi.
Sevo who is seeking a sixth elective term in office in 2021 on the NRM ticket has lashed out at politicians playing politics of the age.
“Please, stop talking nonsense if you want to solve your problems. I was in my 20s and Mwalimu Nyerere was in his 50s but I was his follower. This was because I was following his ideas like the one of the East African Federation and the idea of liberating Southern Africa. Ideas are ideas whether they are supported by the young or the old,” Museveni said.
He was speaking to NRM flag bearers and other party representatives from the West Nile sub-region on Thursday at Muni university grounds.
Sevo indicated that ideas still remain the same whether they are supported by young or old people, instead of ideas saying they are misleading Ugandans.
“The issue is that, is this a correct idea of a wrong one? When you hear people talking about Biology( age), you know they don’t know what they are talking about.”
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni however urged the people of West Nile to vote for the ruling NRM government to ensure the achievements in the past 35 years are consolidated.
