Manchester United’s Luke Shaw will be sidelined for a month

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw will be sidelined until December. He picked up a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Luke Shaw, who assisted Bruno Fernandes’s equaliser in that game, had to be substituted for Axel Tuanzebe midway through the second half.

The England  defender  has started all seven of Red Devil’s games between the October and November international break and the intense schedule, as well as the quick turnaround from defeat in Istanbul last Wednesday to beating Everton on Saturday lunchtime, may have played a part in another muscle injury being sustained in a season dominated by such problems.

Luke Shaw is expected to miss Premier League games against West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and West Ham, as well as Champions League clashes with Istanbul Basaksehir, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig. His bsence will pave the way for new recruit Alex Telles, who tested positive for COVID-19 last month but has since recovered, to make his Premier League bow.

In the statement about Shaw’s injury, United confirmed that Alex Telles is now fit and available for selection and will play for Brazil during the international break.  Telles who hasn’t played since United’s win against Paris Saint-Germain having been sidelined due to a positive COVID-19 test. That’s some good news for United as Telles will be able to slot straight in for Luke Shaw at left back.

Both Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof are said to have been suffering some problems and United state their current condition is “unclear”.

Ole Gunnar  Solskjaer will now be sweating over the fitness of the United pair, who are both on international duty over the next two weeks.

Rashford is included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for upcoming matches against Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Iceland.

Lindelof meanwhile will meet up with Sweden’s national team, although he won’t feature in the match against Denmark on Wednesday due to quarantine rules.

But he will be available for selection in Nations League matches against Croatia and France.

United still have a game in hand on most of their Premier League rivals, but they currently sit 14th in the table.

Their first fixture back after the international break is against West Brom, who have the league’s joint-worst defensive record
