Ugandan football icon Hakim “Boda Boda” Magumba has expressed heartfelt gratitude after receiving a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fortebet Real Stars Monthly Sports Awards. The ceremony, held today, Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo, celebrated outstanding performers across various sporting disciplines.
The former Iganga, SC Villa, Atraco FC, and Uganda Cranes midfielder—renowned for his dazzling dribbling skills—was honored once again for his remarkable contribution to Ugandan football.
In an emotional acceptance speech, Magumba acknowledged the individuals and institutions that shaped his career.
“It is my gratitude to the organizers, but it is also a good platform for me to appreciate everyone that helped me to settle in the game of football,” he said.
He paid tribute to his parents and key football administrators who supported him over the years.
“I will start from my parents who allowed me to play the game before getting support from many, the administrators to mention Isa Magoola, and the four presidents I played across their leadership—Twaha Kakaire, Denis Obua, game changer Lawrence Mulindwa, and the current one, Moses Magogo.”
Magumba also offered words of advice to emerging footballers, strongly cautioning them against drug abuse.
“Playing football is not good with drugs. I personally played 20 years without using any substance. I call upon them to avoid drugs and save the game of football,” he urged.
