I moved to Uganda because Tanzanians were mocking me- Mr Nice
Tanzanian legend singer Lucas Mkenda alias Mr Nice has revealed why he had to move out of his home country Tanzania and relocate to Uganda. The Kidalipo singer through an undated video on Instagram claims Tanzanians were making fun of him, prompting the move.
Mr Nice who made headlines before the rise of the likes of Diamond Platnumz, Ali Kiba among others, is currently living in Kampala where he says he is much respected and valued.
In the video, the Kikulacho hitmaker says that he is in Kampala because that’s where he is making money.
“Mimi naenda pale ambapo naona napata pesa, ama mlitaka niendelee kukaa pale nyumbani ili muendelee kunicheka? Hio haipendezi na ndio maana kila siku ata rais wetu Bw Magufuli amekuwa akituambia fanyeni kazi acheni umbea,” he says.
Earlier this year, the legendary Tanzania singer accused Bongo star Harmonize of sampling the beats of his hit song King’asti without permission.
“Harmonize has sampled my beats without my approval. It hurts. It’s like when you got this child you love in the family then he/she goes ahead to steal from you,” an irritated Mr Nice, who released King’asti 13 years ago, blasted him.
Harmonize’s manager popularly known as Mjerumani, also appeared to confirm that indeed, the singer sampled the beats and the two artistes are currently trying to iron out the issue.
Broke, sick?
In 2018, word went out that Mr. Nice was unable to return to Tanzania after he was invited to perform in an event in Uganda. He was said to have found himself in a predicament after promoters who had organized the said gig in Kamapala failed to pay him.
While he confirmed that indeed Abtex Promotion failed to pay him, Mr Nice maintained that he remained in Kampala voluntarily.
“There have been rumours that I’m stuck here in Kampala. Is that really possible. True, I didn’t get a single cent from Abtex, but Mr Nice is a big brand. I’ve overcame everything,” Mr Nice was quoted.
In an interview with Millard Ayo, Mr. Nice once said he sometimes walks with bundles of cash in his car boot.
“I always walk around with money stashed in my car boot. Having cash in your wallet or bank account does not mean you have it all. Have you ever walked with money in your boot? I have done it all,” he said.
“I know my enemies will say want they want, sometimes they can say that I am broke but the truth is that I living my own life,” he added
