FUFA To Lend UPL Clubs To Foot Initial Bills Of Covid19 Tests Ahead Of The 2020-21 Season
The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) will lend Clubs money to fund the initial Covid19 tests ahead of Uganda Premier League kickoff.
FUFA will then collect recover the subsequent fees from the clubs’ League sponsorship package.
“The responsibility to test, this initial test, is that of the clubs, the role of FUFA is to ensure that the test proceed because clubs have no any financial resources right now, so the federation will pay the costs of the first tests,” FUFA Deputy CEO Decolas Kizza has stated.

“However, these costs will be recovered from subsequent income from the clubs in order to mitigate the cash flow effects on the clubs.
“Basically, the responsibility of testing the players and staff is that of the club, this initial test will be undertaken by FUFA 100% but costs will be recovered from subsequent income of the club.”
In preparation for competition restart, the Federation has set up a COVID-19 Management Committee which will be the the only body mandated to oversee and verify COVID-19 tests.
Each club will have to provide licensed players, authorised technical staff and any other essential staff for COVID-19 PCR test.
FUFA emphasises that only holders of PCR Negative Certificates will be allowed to participate in the match.
The Premier League is expected to kick off on Thursday, December 3 and already draft fixtures have been released.
Vipers SC will open their 2020/21 campaign at home to newcomers Myda FC while thirteen-time league champions KCCA FC, who lost last season’s title to Vipers, will be in action away to Soltilo Bright Stars in the day’s only other game.
Sixteen-time champions Villa travel to Bul on December 4, while six-time winners Express visit Onduparaka and Mbarara City host URA the following day.
According to the league Secretariat, the games are subject to change depending on the “television schedule and fulfillment of Fufa Licensing requirements by UPL clubs for the 2020/21 season.”
Meanwhile, Sports Club Villa will begin their campaign by visiting top-six rivals BUL FC on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 4:30. It will be the first time Villa face BUL on the opening day since their promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
