Bobi Wine’s charisma, generosity and loyalty prove his political future is bright.
Kyandondo east Mp is politically and socially unpredictable – so hot yet as cool as the breeze. Most of the time Bobi would act like a man brought up in the streets, or as others would say, “a ganja”, but when it comes to serious matters, he shows his brilliance and high intelligence levels The youthful Member of Parliament is just charismatic, to say the least.
Charisma is a priceless political attribute: Even the intolerant South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighter’s Commander in Chief and ex-African National Congress (ANC) loyalist who hated former president Jacob Zuma, once said the latter was better than President Cyril Ramaphosa. “Zuma is charismatic. He cannot walk to the mall without people shouting at him but Ramaphosa is a nobody, the other day he was in fact forcing himself to greet people,” Malema once said. It is the charisma of DP William Ruto and Raila Odinga that has held firm the walls of the hustler nation and those of “Baba’s” die-hards- the two heavyweight politicians are charismatic and Bobi is a cut from these coats.
The young man who grew up in Kamwokya slums is a cocktail of academic brilliance, street smartness, youthful vigour and rare ability to reconcile with nemeses thus irresistible to his admirers and hard nut for his opponents. His poverty background and affluent present status make him an inch-perfect fit across all social classes. When he falls, he sometimes goes headfirst but his ability to rise like phoenix whenever he sees an opportunity keeps him afloat in the murky political waters infested with his opponents’ deadly sharks. From abusing Museveni to embracing the 20M,
Bobi Wine’s political and social flexibility is magically propelling him to greatness. He has some point kept low key status. The youthful lawmaker has supported education through bursaries and giving personal financial support to struggling students across all levels including those in universities where he got his political wings.
Hate him or like him, Bobi is so far in the list of Ugandan politicians to watch for a long time and like great players in the industry, he is hated and loved in the same measure.
