This unique clash has drawn attention to the complex dynamics surrounding land conflicts and the power dynamics at play.
The confrontation, which occurred in Kasokwe village , Galilaaya sub county, Kayunga District serves as a stark reminder of the deep-rooted tensions surrounding land ownership and disputes that persist within society.
Meanwhile following the fracas , the UPDF 1 Infantry division spokesman Major Charles Kabona issued a statement condemning the attack on soldiers by civilians.
“ As the soldiers were conducting their routine patrols in the area they were attacked by one of the fighting groups,” he said.
He further added that UPDF as well as the Police are investigating the matter so that the perpetrators can be identified and serve justice.
However the incident unfolded when a contingent of UPDF soldiers arrived at the disputed site, purportedly to enforce an eviction order issued by the authorities.

Moreover, the clash underscores the need for peaceful and equitable resolutions to land disputes. It is imperative that such conflicts are addressed through constructive dialogue and engagement, with a focus on upholding the rule of law and ensuring the protection of all stakeholders’ rights.
In the aftermath of the clash, it is crucial for both local authorities and the military to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
This investigation should aim to identify the underlying causes of the dispute, examine the actions of all parties involved, and facilitate a fair and just resolution that respects the rights of the affected community.
