Team Uganda ready to conquer 2024 FIM Africa motocross championships in Morocco

Uganda’s national motocross team received an official send-off for the upcoming 2024 FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations championships in Marrakech, Morocco. The spirited ceremony took place at the Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024.

Leading the charge for Team Uganda is MX 2 champion Stav Orland, who will captain the 27-man squad across 8 categories including Mx 50cc senior, Mx 65cc, Mx 85cc, Mx 125cc, MX1, MX2, MX Vets, and MX Masters.

Orland expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and emphasized their determination to compete for top honors.

National Council of Sports encourages excellence and National pride

Assistant general secretary of the National Council of Sports (NCS), Joseph Oluga, urged the team to represent Uganda with pride and deliver outstanding performances to showcase the country on the international stage.

The support and encouragement from NCS aim to inspire the team to excel and bring home trophies.

The team composition reflects a diverse and skilled lineup, with riders like Abigail Birungi in MX 25, Larry Ssekamwa, Ashraf Mbabazi, and Ethan Musede in MX 65, and Gift Ssebuguzi, Ali Kimera, Ethan Kateke, and Jeyson Barrows competing in MX 85. Each category is well-represented, showcasing the depth of talent within Team Uganda.

With the experience of placing third overall in the previous championships in Cape Town, South Africa, Team Uganda is poised to build on past achievements and strive for even greater success in Morocco.

The determination, skill, and unity within the team set the stage for an exciting and competitive showing at the upcoming championships.
