Social media spat: Deputy speaker engages in family affair
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, found himself in a heated exchange on social media with a critic on the X Platform. The critic had criticised Tayebwa for reportedly taking his entire family to the United Kingdom to watch a Manchester United match.
Following Manchester United’s victory over Everton at Old Trafford, social media user Kenneth Kazoora launched a swift counterattack against Tayebwa, who had attended the match with his family.
Tayebwa had shared photos of his family with Manchester United legends, praising the team’s performance and new coach.
Transparency amid controversy
Amid accusations of misusing taxpayer money for the trip, Tayebwa defended himself, stating that the visit was privately funded by the family.
Kazoora challenged the deputy speaker to provide evidence of his presence at Old Trafford before his term in parliament began, to which Tayebwa responded by sharing an old photo from 2014.
During a recent visit to Uganda, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana extended an invitation to Tayebwa to watch him play in Manchester, adding a surprising turn to the unfolding saga.
